High School Mentors Needed

Buddies Flyer 2015Big Brothers Big Sisters still needs volunteers to be a Big for its After School Buddies Programs.  In this program, volunteers would meet with a child from an area school for weekly activities during the after school hours.  This year we will have programs at Celina Elementary, St. Henry Elementary, St. Marys Intermediate, and Van Wert Elementary.

During the After School Programs, mentors help Littles with homework, listen, and participate in group activities. This year we are focusing on life skills, STEM, character education, and more. In addition, throughout the year there will be free one-on-one time with your Little. This time allows for Bigs and Littles to get to know each other better and do activities planned by the Big that they both enjoy. These programs meet weekly starting in late September and early October.

Volunteers must be able to meet with a child once a week for an 1 1/2 after school.  Volunteers will be able to decide which program they would like to attend based on their schedules and geographic location.  This is your opportunity to make a difference and be a role model for a young child.

The Littles are students from Celina Elementary (grades 3-4); St. Henry Elementary (grades 1-3); St. Marys Intermediate School (grades 4-5); and Van Wert Elementary (grades 1-5).  These are students that it is thought could use a special friend and someone to spend time with them, YOU!  They are looking forward to spending time with a special friend on a consistent basis.  We do not want to turn any students away because of a lack of volunteers.
